Is your mindset supporting your health and weight loss goals?
Do you ever feel like you’re your own worst critic?
Do you find this to be especially true when it comes to your body image and weight goals?
If so, you’re not alone. At the same time, our mindset is essential to meeting our goals in a positive way that really supports us.
So if you’re feeling frustrated because you aren’t meeting your weight loss goals or you aren’t feeling comfortable in your body, here are a few ideas to help you shift into a more supportive state of mind:
1. Reconnect with your big reason why.
Why do you want to lose weight? Why are you setting these health goals?
Make sure you’re clear on why this matters to you. What difference will reaching this goal make in your daily life?
2. Celebrate your progress.
Often with goals, especially health or weight loss goals, we aim especially high. Even when we’re taking daily action, it can feel as though our goal is so far away and that we’re never going to get there.
While it can help to have a big goal, try setting some smaller goals to celebrate along the way.
3. Visualize reaching your goal.
Take a few moments each day to imagine what it will feel like to reach your goal. This keeps planting the seed in your mind and reminds you of what you’re working towards. How will it feel to reach your goal?
4. Focus on what you’re doing well.
Too often, it’s easy to focus on our mistakes or failures. However, this sometimes makes it harder for us to get back on track.
If you’re feeling down about your progress, take a little time to write down everything you’re doing to meet your goals. It’s likely you’ll start to see that you’re succeeding more often than not.
As with any change we want to make in life, reaching our health and weight loss goals takes time and commitment. Just like we cheer our kids on when they’re working towards new milestones, we need to be our own cheerleaders as we work towards these goals.
You’ve got this and I’m cheering you on!
